All Aboard! Scotlands Poshest Train
🎶 James Gray on Composing the Music for Alan Cumming - All Aboard! - Scotland’s Poshest Train 🚂
I’m thrilled to have composed the original music for Alan Cumming - All Aboard! - Scotland’s Poshest Train.
After hearing some of my production music in early edits, Series Director George Scott reached out to me, having received my contact from Scott Pearce at Nerve.io. The team felt the series needed an original score, and after seeing just the first few minutes, I was immediately excited to be involved.
The series beautifully showcases the stunning landscapes and rich heritage of Scotland, with Belmond’s The Royal Scotsman providing the perfect setting for an unforgettable journey. Alan Cumming is incredible—his charisma and energy brought so much to the project, and the team at 14th Floor Productions were a pleasure to work with. It’s a great team that really brought the vision to life.
Being based in Oban—on one of The Royal Scotsman’s routes—makes this project especially personal. Kinetic Studio, my facility located in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, provided the ideal environment to craft the score. The studio’s cutting-edge technology, combined with the stunning landscapes surrounding us, made it possible to compose music that captures the spirit and beauty of the country.
Equally important was the incredible local talent just outside my door. The Highlands are home to some of Scotland’s leading folk musicians, and I had the privilege of working with them during the recording process. We recorded at Kinetic Studio and St Mary’s Space, where their exceptional musicianship brought the score to life. I’m incredibly proud of how it turned out and so grateful for the close-knit community of artists and professionals who made this project possible.
The series airs Sunday, November 10th at 8pm—don’t miss it!
